About This Role

Are you a legal professional who wants to use your expertise to support a purpose-driven, global organization? The Stoic Fellowship is seeking a volunteer Lawyer to provide guidance on governance, contracts, intellectual property, and nonprofit compliance. Your contributions will help ensure that TSF operates with integrity, transparency, and in alignment with both legal standards and Stoic virtues.

This role is ideal for someone with legal experience in nonprofit, corporate, or general counsel work who is passionate about ethical service and organizational clarity.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on legal matters related to nonprofit governance, liability, and compliance
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, or interpreting contracts, policies, or terms of service
  • Help ensure TSF adheres to local and international nonprofit regulations and reporting requirements
  • Provide guidance on risk management, intellectual property, and potential partnerships
  • Collaborate with board members and volunteers to clarify policies or legal concerns
  • Maintain alignment with Stoic virtues—especially justice, wisdom, and courage—in all legal recommendations

Ideal Qualities

  • Licensed attorney with experience in nonprofit, tax-exempt, corporate, or intellectual property law
  • Clear and concise communicator who can explain legal topics to non-lawyers
  • Comfortable advising remotely and asynchronously, as part of a distributed volunteer team
  • Strong alignment with Stoic values and an interest in service-oriented leadership
  • Discreet, detail-oriented, and dependable
  • Eagerness to support a philosophical movement that promotes human flourishing and virtue

Time Commitment

This is a flexible, advisory role. We ask for a commitment of 2–4 hours per month, depending on current needs, legal projects, or document reviews. Availability for occasional quick-turnaround questions is appreciated.
