Community Manager

Category: Community Growth & Engagement

About This Role

Are you energized by building community and sparking meaningful conversations? The Stoic Fellowship is looking for a volunteer Community Manager to help foster discussion, connection, and collaboration across our digital platforms and broader network. Whether moderating online spaces or organizing in-person engagement, your role is to cultivate a welcoming, respectful environment rooted in Stoic values.

This position is ideal for someone who loves people, believes in thoughtful dialogue, and wants to help Stoics around the world feel more connected and supported.

Responsibilities

  • Help moderate and facilitate respectful discussions in online forums, group chats, or social platforms
  • Welcome new members and help orient them to TSF's community and mission
  • Organize or support virtual events, workshops, or discussions
  • Encourage engagement by sharing prompts, event recaps, updates, or relevant Stoic resources
  • Listen to the needs and feedback of members, and share insights with other TSF volunteers
  • Collaborate with other roles (e.g. content creators, ambassadors, organizers) to build stronger community touchpoints
  • Uphold Stoic virtues—especially justice, moderation, and kindness—in all interactions

Ideal Qualities

  • Passion for Stoicism and the desire to create inclusive, growth-oriented spaces
  • Warm, approachable communication style with a knack for bringing people together
  • Experience moderating online communities or managing group dynamics (optional but helpful)
  • Reliable and self-directed, with a proactive attitude toward community building
  • Thoughtful listener who values dialogue over debate
  • Comfortable with tools like Slack, Discord, Zoom, or similar platforms

Time Commitment

This is a flexible volunteer role. We ask for a commitment of 3–5 hours per week, though this may vary based on platform activity or events. Ideal for someone who checks in regularly and enjoys community rhythm and flow.

Benefits of Volunteering

  • Build relationships with Stoics around the world and foster meaningful dialogue
  • Shape the tone and culture of a growing philosophical movement
  • Gain experience in community development, moderation, and engagement strategy
  • Work alongside a supportive, values-driven team
  • Earn public recognition, volunteer badges, and the opportunity to be featured in TSF communications
